In the name of God Amen, I Thomas PEAD, Citizen and Haberdasher of London being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, Imprimis, I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried, and as to my estate which God of his great goodness has blessed me with all, I give and bequeath in manner following (that is to say) I give and bequeath unto my dear and beloved wife Elizabeth the sum of fifteen hundred pounds of lawful money of England.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary PEAD the sum of eight hundred pounds of lawful money of England; to my daughter Elizabeth PEAD the sum of seven hundred pounds; to my daughter Priscilla PEAD the sum of seven hundred pounds; to my sister Ann JUSTICE the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds; to my daughter Mary’s nurse Elizabeth Reeves twenty pounds, to Ann Holland twenty pounds when she shall attain the age of one and twenty years; to Mary Ventrell my servant maid five pounds; to Edmund Skinner ten pounds; to James Holland twenty pounds at the age of one and twenty years; to my brother  Luke PEAD and his wife twenty five pounds; to my brother Isaac PEAD and his wife twenty five pounds; to Charles Holland ten pounds at the age of one and twenty years; to my brother Andrew BRANDON and his wife five pounds ; to my brother Robert PEAD and his wife five pounds; to my brother John PEAD’s widow five pounds; to my aunt Alban Mackerell five pounds; to Mary Levett the wife of Richard Levett five pounds; to Priscilla Holland ten pounds, and whereas there is due to me from the estate of James Holland two hundred pounds, I do give the same to be divided between them share and share alike, nevertheless my will and meaning is that the legacy to my wife and children shall (after my debts paid) be in the first place satisfied and then the other legacies to be paid, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Elizabeth Pead to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament, and lastly after all the legacies hereby given shall be fully satisfied, the residue of my estate I give and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Pead. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seven and twentieth day of January AD 1679 – Tho Pead – signed sealed published and declared to be (the) last will and testament of the above named Thomas Pead in the presence of (Tho Bard, Daniel Polcombe) Edmund Skinner
