In the name of God Amen; I JOHN CROUCH of Heathfield in the County of Sussex being aged and weak in body of good and perfect memory thanks be given to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows (vizt.) first I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator trusting that through the merits of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be made partaker of eternal life and my body to be buried with a decent Christian burial by my executor hereafter named; and as concerning my worldly goods as follows; first I give and bequeath unto my daughter MARY CLARKE the full sum of five shillings.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto my daughter USLAN DANN the sum of five shillings.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto my daughter SUSAND WINSON the full sum of five shillings; all which legacies before bequeathed unto my said daughters should be paid as my mind and will is by my executor within one year next after my decease provided that such goods lands and chattels be recovered by my executor as is of right due unto me and not otherwise.  And as for the rest of my goods lands and chattels whatsoever I give and bequeath unto THOMAS PARSSON my son in law who has taken the care of me in all my weak and mean condition whom I do make and ordain my full and sole executor of this my last will and testament.  IN witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this one and twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty five – John Crouch (his mark) – in the presence of us: Richard Sanders (his mark), Thos.
