In the name of God Amen.  I NICHOLAS CRADOCK of Romsey in the Diocese of Winchester being of indifferent health of body and of perfect remembrance for the which I give to God most hearty thanks do the eighteenth day of September in the year after the incarnation of Christ our Lord God a thousand five hundred eighty six make and ordain this my testament conveying therein my last will as it is hereafter written.  First I commend my soul into the hands of our heavenly father my creator in hope of my salvation in Jesus Christ our Redeemer through the sanctification of the Holy Ghost our most loving comforter unto the which blessed Trinity I give most humble thanks for ever.  My sunful body I do commit to the blessed will of God as it shall please him to finish my evil days at his pleasure the which I most heartily desire of God that it may be in perfect faith in Christ Jesus and that I may depart from this world one of the church of Christ.  Concerning the disposition of such living and goods the which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me for the [sustentation] of me and my family for the which I give him most humble thanks; and for the more quietness of my wife and children after my departure from them (I trust and believe unto my everlasting rest) I do by this my testament and last will give unto my mother church of Winchester xiid (twelve pence).  ITEM; I give unto my parish church of Romsey five shillings.  ITEM; I give unto every of my Godchildren four pence.  ITEM; I do give unto NICHOLAS my son forty pounds to be paid him within one quarter of a year after my decease.  Also I give him my best cup after the decease of my wife; and also I give him my lease of Panfont Hill, my wife to have half with him if that she will.  ITEM; I will that my son Nicholas shall have all my lands after the decease of my wife.  Also I give him the lease of my house which I now dwell in after his mother’s decease; and in the meantime he to have the house which my father did dwell in paying unto [Wigg] his mother’s rent during his mother’s life; and he to receive twenty shillings a year of [Burrell] towards the payment of the rent.  ITEM; I give unto JOHN my son forty pounds when he shall come to the age of twenty four years old; and in the meantime to have the commodity of it towards his maintenance.  ITEM; I give unto RICHARD my son forty pounds to be paid to him when he cometh to the age of twenty four years and in the meantime to have the commodity towards his maintenance.  ITEM; I give unto ROBERT my son forty pounds and a cup of silver which I had of Pynnock to be paid his forty pounds when he shall come to the age of twenty four years and in the meantime to have the commodity of it towards his maintenance and the cup after his mother’s decease.  ITEM; I give unto JOANE my daughter forty pounds to be paid at the day of her marriage or within one month after.  ITEM; I give unto EDITH my daughter forty pounds to be paid at the day of her marriage or within one month after.  Also my will is that if any of my three children younger sons shall happen to die before they come to their ages or any of my daughters before they come to be married then my will is that the legacies to him or her given shall remain to the rest.  ITEM; all my goods moveable and unmoveable I give to ANNE my wife (paying my debts and legacies) whom I do make my sole and whole executrix of this my last will and testament.  Also I make my overseers Thomas Baron Richard Ashley Robert Barnard and John Eman and I give Thomas Baron Richard Ashley Robert Barnard and John Eman for their pains five shillings apiece.  Also I give to the poor of the parish at my funeral twenty shillings to be given at the discretion of my overseers.  In witness that this is my will and testament I have made my mark – teste Thomas Baron
