In the name of God Amen this seven and twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred forty and five I SYMON BOWYER of the Parish of Bray in the County of berks yeoman being in sound memory thanks be to God renouncing and annulling all former wills do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following; First I commit my soul into the hands of Jesus Christ my Saviour who died for my sins and rose again for my justification and my body to the earth whereof it is made to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor; and for the estate that God has blessed me with I give and bequeath in manner and form following (that is to say): First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife ANNE BOWYER my cottage and backside with all and singular the appurtenances situate lying and being in Hollyporte in the Parish of Bray aforesaid for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath the said cottage and backside unto my son THOMAS BOWYER and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my son SIMON BOWYER and to his heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my son JOHN BOWYER and to his heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to the right heirs of me the said Simon Bowyer forever; and that the said Thomas Bowyer my son shall pay or cause to be paid out of the said cottage and backside unto my daughter JOANE TWELLS now the wife of RICHARD TWELLS of Blackwall in the County of Midd. Near London Anchor, smith the sum of five pounds of lawful English money within three years after the decease of me the said Simon Bowyer and Anne Bowyer and the longer liver of us; and also the said Thomas Bowyer my son shall pay or cause to be paid out of the said cottage and backside unto my daughter MARY SCOTT now the wife of THOMAS SCOTT of Wapping in the County of Kent near London, shoemaker the like sum of five pounds of lawful English money within three years after the decease of me the said Simon Bowyer and of Anne Bowyer aforesaid and after the longer liver of us.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Anne Bowyer aforesaid all my land situate lying and being in the said Parish of Bray for and during the term of her natural life (that is to say) two acres of land lying and being in a common field called Fyfield Field three half acres whereof abuts upon Winsor Highway on the north and the other half acre lying on the north side of Bilderwell Dicke and abuts upon Winsor Highway on the east the reversion of these two acres I give and bequeath unto my said son Symon Bowyer and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my son John Bowyer and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my son Thomas Bowyer and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to the right heirs of me the said Symon Bowyer forever; also two half acres of land more situate lying and being in Hollyport field the one half acre lying in the further Charlease and the other half acre lies upon the hill near Roches Elme the reversion of those two half acres I give and bequeath unto my said son John Bowyer and to his heirs forever; also two half acres more situate lying and being in a common field called Hollyport field the one half acre abutting upon the highway leading from Braybrooke to Wynsor on the South and the other half acre abutting upon the highway leading from Holiport to Wynsor South East the reversion of both half acres aforesaid I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Mary Scott and to the heirs of her body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my said son Thomas Bowyer and to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of of such issue then to my son Simon Bowyer and to his heirs of his body lawfully begotten; and for default of such issue then to my son John Bowyer and to his heirs of his body forever; also one acre of land more situate lying and being in a common field called Holliport field lying there in a veire called Bullock veere abutting upon the highway leading from Braywick to Winsor on the east the reversion whereof I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Joane Twells and to her heirs forever.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto my said son Thomas Bowyer after the decease of my beloved wife Anne Bowyer my featherbed with the bedstead and all the furniture thereunto belonging which is in the little chamber and further my will is that my wife shall have the use of all my goods and chattels during her life so that she waste them not voluntarily and after her decease to be equally divided between my children (that is to say) Symon, Thomas, John, Joane and Mary.  Also I make and appoint my well beloved sife to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament; and also I appoint my neighbour John Harry of the parish of Bray aforesaid Esquire and my neighbour Thomas Dowse of Bray aforesaid yeoman to be overseers of this my last will and testament; and that he the said Thomas Dowse shall have five shillings for his pains.  In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and set my seal unto this present last will and testament the day and year abovesaid – Symon Bowyer – in the presence of (the mark of) Thomas Colsey the elder (the mark of) William Dowell (the mark of) George Young
