This is the last will and testament of me FRANCES KING of the town of Huntingdon in the county of Huntingdon spinster of which will I have caused two parts to be written both of the same tone words and form I desire that my body may be buried at Ealing in Middlesex with as little expense as decency will admit of and whereas the principal part of my estate consists of the parsonage glebe lands and great tithes of Ealing aforesaid with their respective appurtenances which I now hold under a lease from the Chancellor of Saint Paul London for my own life and the lives of Martin Annesley gentleman and William Bullock eldest son of the Reverend Richard Bullock of Dry Drayton in the county of Cambridge clerk by Lucy his now wife and which was late of the estate of my brotherWilliam Smyth King deceased and by him devised to me in and by his last will and testament and whereas it was also the particular wish and desire of my said brother repeatedly expressed by him to me in his life time as well as my own that the said estate at Ealing should at my decease devolve and go to the said Richard Bullock and his heirs How as well in compliance with the wish and desire of my late brother as in gratification of my own inclination and as a proof of my affection and sincere regard and esteem for the said Richard Bullock I do give devise and bequeath all and singular my estate at or in Ealing aforesaid and all my estate interest benefit and right of survival of in and to the same together with the said lease thereof and all other my real estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto and to the only proper use and behoof of the said Richard Bullock his heirs and assigns subject to the rent and covenants in the said lease reserved and contained and to the payment of the principal money and interest now due or to grow due on a mortgage of the same premises made by my said late brother in life time to Mr George Pitt Hurst and Mr William Howard or their trustees and also subject to the raising and payment of the several annuities of twenty five pounds to Matthew Cook and of five pounds to Thomas Parke given and bequeathed to them respectively for their respective lives by the will of my said late brother and the annuity hereinafter by me given  to the said Thomas Peake and subject also to the raising and payment of all or such and so many of the legacies or sums of money hereinafter by me given or bequeathed as my personal estate shall fall short of or be deficient to pay and satisfy and I hereby ratify and confirm unto the said Matthew Cook and Thomas Peake respectively the said annuities of twenty five pounds and five pounds to them respectively given and bequeathed by the will of my said late brother and I do further give and bequeath unto the said Thomas Peake and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life a further and additional annuity or clear yearly sum of five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain free of all taxes and other deductions parliamentary or otherwise to be issuing and payable out of my said estate at or in Ealing aforesaid and to be paid and payable by equal half yearly payments on the second day of May  and the second day of November in every year the first half yearly payment thereof to begin and be made on such one of the same two days as shall first and next happen after my decease and I do hereby charge and subject all and singular my said estate at or in Ealing aforesaid with and to the payment of the said last mentioned annuity yearly rent or sum of five pounds accordingly but it is my intention that the said last mentioned annuity or sum of five pounds so

By me given to the said Thomas Peake by the will of my late sister Florentia King deceased and not otherwise it being my express mind and intention that the said Thomas Peake or his assigns shall have and receive or be entitled unto out of my estate and effects or the estate or effects of my late brother or sister no other or further annuity than the said annuity of five pounds given him by the will of my late brother and the said annuity of five pounds hereinbefore by me given and bequeathed unto him as aforesaid and my will is that in case the said several annuities of twenty five pounds and five pounds by the will of my late brother given to the said Matthew Cook and Thomas Peake respectively or the said further and additional annuity of five pounds hereinbefore by me given and bequeathed to the said Thomas Peake as aforesaid or any of them or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of twenty eight days next over or after either or any of the days whereon the same are by the will of my said late brother herein before respectively directed to be paid as aforesaid that then and so often it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Matthew Cook and Thomas Peake respectively or their respective assigns in the payment of whose annuities  or annuity such default shall be made as aforesaid to enter upon all and every or any part of the said premises charged with the said annuity as aforesaid and distrain for the same or for so much thereof as shall be so in [swear] and all costs and charges occasioned by the non-payment thereof and whereas my said late brother also requested me in his lifetime and by a paper or writing left with and since proved by me as a codicil to his said will to leave five hundred pounds apiece to his four god children Edward Bullock William Franklin William Watts and Maria Casamaijor which request I am desirous of complying with and of securing the said legacies or sums of five hundred pounds apiece for the benefit of the said god children of my said brother (who are all now infants) in manner herein after mentioned and I am also desirous of giving unto my two god daughters Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollop a legacy or sum of one hundred pounds each and also of securing the same in manner herein after mentioned Now I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said Richard Bullock and William Bullock of Copthall Court in the City of London otherwise their executors administrators heirs or assigns the sum of two thousand two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid and payable to them within twelve months next after my decease in trust that the said Richard Bullock and William Bullock and the survivor of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do meet and place out of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds at interest in the names or name of them my said trustees or of the survivor of them his executors administrators or assigns in or upon real or government securities parliamentary funds or public stocks and shall and I do stand and be possessed of and interested in the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds and every part thereof and the stocks funds or securities in or upon which the same shall from time to time be invested or placed put and the dividends interest and yearly proceed arising to and to be procured from the same upon the several trusts and to and for the several ends intents and purposes and subject to the several powers and provisos herein after by me mentioned expressed and declared of and concerning the same that is to say as to for and concerning the sum of five hundred pounds part of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the said sum of five hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivor of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and so stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for my said late brother’s godson the said Edward Bullock out of the sons of the said Richard Bullock by the said Lucy his now wife and as to for and concerning of the sum five hundred pounds (other part of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money) and the stocks funds and securities for the said last mentd sum of  five hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivor of them his executors and administrators and assigns shall and do stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for the my said late brother’s godson the said William Franklin one of the sons of John Franklin of Bedford Square in the county of Middlesex Esquire and as to for and concerning the sum of five hundred pounds further part of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money the stocks funds and securities of the said last mentioned sum of five hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivors of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for my said late brother’s godson William Watts one of the sons of Edward Watts of Wimpole Street in the said County of Middlesex Esquire and as to for and concerning the sum of five hundred pounds further part of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the said last mentioned sum of five hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivors of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for my said late brother’s god daughter Maria Casamajor daughter of John Casamajor of Cannons in the County of Hertford Esquire and as to for and concerning the sum of one hundred pounds further part of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money the stocks funds and securities for the same one hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivors of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for my said god daughter Lucy Bullock one of the daughters of the said Richard Bullock by the said Lucy his wife and as to for and concerning the sum of one hundred pounds (residue of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money) and the stocks funds and securities for the said last mentioned one hundred pounds upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivors of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do stand and be possessed thereof and interested therein in trust for my said god daughter Frances Trollope one of the daughters of the Reverend John Trollope of Huntingdon aforesaid clerk the said parts or shares of the said Edward Bullock William Franklin and William Watts of or in the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the same to vest in and paid and transferred to them the said Edward Bullock William Franklin and William Watts respectively when and as they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years and the parts or shares of the said Maria Casamajor Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope of or in the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the same to vest in and be paid and transferred to them the said Maria Casamajor Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope respectively when as they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years on at upon them or her respective days or day of marriage which shall first happen and as to for and concerning the dividends interest and yearly proceed to arise and produced from the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the same upon trust that they my said trustees and the survivors of them his executors administrators and assigns shall and do from time to time at their own discretions pay apply and dispose of the same in for and towards the maintenance and education or otherwise for the benefit of the said Edward Bullock William Franklin William Watts Maria Casamajor Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope in proportion to their respective parts or shares in the capital of the said two thousand two hundred pounds trust money or the stocks funds and securities for the same according to this my last will unto their respective parts and shares of the capital of the said trust money shall become payable or transferable to them as aforesaid provided always nevertheless and I do hereby declare my will and mind to be that if any of them the said Edward Bullock William Franklin William Watts Maria Casamajor Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope shall die before they shall become entitled according to this my will to their respective parts of the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds or of the stocks funds and securities for the same then the part and share parts and shares of each and every of them the said Edward Bullock William Franklin William Watts Maria Casamajor Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope so dying of and in the said sum of two thousand two hundred pounds trust money and the stocks funds and securities for the same and all the dividends interest and produce thereof from thenceforth to arise and be received shall sink and fall back into the residuum of my personal estate by me hereinafter given and bequeathed and shall be go and remain to and for the use and benefit of such person or persons who for the time being should or would have been entitled unto such residuum by virtue of and under this my will and mind and will further is and I do hereby declare that my said trustees for the time being may if they think fit continue all or any of the stocks funds or real or other government securities which I may be possessed of to answer the purposes aforesaid and also that they may at their own discretion from time to time change or alter all or any of the stocks funds or securities to be appropriated for the purposes herein before mentioned and declared so as the trust money thereby secured or payable be always placed out or invested in or upon real or government securities parliamentary funds or publick stocks and vested in my said trustees upon or subject to the same trusts and to and for the like ends intents and purposes as I have herein before mentioned and declared of and concerning the said trust sum of two thousand two hundred pounds and the original trust stocks funds or securities so to be taken as aforesaid and I do also hereby declare that my trustees or either of them or their respective executors administrators or assigns shall not be chargeable or accountable for the acts receipts payments or defaults of the other or others of them or further or otherwise than each of them for his own acts receipts and wilful defaults only or for any loss which may happen by defective titles or otherwise in placing out my said estate or any part thereof at interest or by changing or altering any of the said stocks funds or securities for the same or by depositing any money for safe custody in the Bank of England or any banker or bankers hands nor with any other loss which may happen to the said trust promises or in the execution of the trusts hereby created unless the same shall happen by his or their wilful default and also I do hereby declare and direct that my said trustees for the time being and each and every one of them may retain out of my estate and effects or any part thereof the full and whole costs charges damages and expenses which they or any of them shall or may sustain expend or be put unto in or about the execution of the trusts hereby in them reposed and shall be fully indemnified out of my estate for and in respect of all their lawful actings and doings in pursusance thereof I give and bequeath unto Mrs Florentia Wynch the sum of twenty five guineas as a token of my friendship I forgive and remit unto the Reverend John Trollope of Huntingdon aforesaid clerk all the money principal and interest which he shall owe me at the time of my decease upon bonds notes or other securities and direct such securities to be given up to him by my executor hereinafter named as soon as may be after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto the said John Trollope and to Catherine Trollope his wife the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds apiece of lawful money of Great Britain and I also give unto each of them the said John Trollope and Catherine his wife one of my diamond ear rings for a ring to be worn by them constantly as a remembrance of me  I give to my before named friend Richard Bullock my diamond ring to be worn by him constantly as a remembrance of me  I give to my before named cousin Lucy the wife of the said Richard Bullock the sum of one hundred pounds for mourning and my diamond pin I give to my before named god daughter Lucy Bullock my ruby ring set round with diamonds and to my before named god daughter Frances Trollope I give my gold watch and equipage with my garnet and copi de pearl ear rings and I give all my cloaths wearing apparel and linen of all kinds unto and to be equally divided between my said two god daughters Lucy Bullock and Frances Trollope and all the goods and furniture in my room at his house at the time of my decease (linen and wearing apparel of every kind excepted) I give unto the said John Trollope to and for his own use and benefit I give to Mrs Munro ten guineas for a ring and unto the before named Matthew Cook the sum of five guineas and I desire that the sum of ten guineas may be distributed equally amongst the servants where I may happen to die for any extraordinary trouble they may have on that occasion I do hereby charge and subject my estate real and personal with and to the payment of the several annuities and promissory legacies herein before mentioned and every part thereof and subject and liable thereto and also to the payment of all my debts and funeral expenses and the charges of proving and carrying into execution the trusts of this my will I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality so ever not herein before by me otherwise disposed of unto my friend Richard Bullock to and for his own use and benefit and I do nominate and appoint the said Richard Bullock sole executor of this my last will and testament and lastly I hereby revoke annul and make void all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and I do declare this only to be my last will and testament in testimony whereof I the said Frances King the testatrix to this my last will and testament contained in this and the six preceeding sheets of paper to each of the said six preceeding sheets thereof have set my hand to this last sheet may hand and seal this second day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three – Frances King – The writing contained in this and the six preceeding sheets of paper was signed and sealed by the above named Frances King the testatrix and by her published and declared as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us Codicil 3/6/1784

Whereas I have by my will dated January 2 1783 left Mrs Wynch of Harley Street a legacy of twenty-five pounds I do hereby in consideration of the many civilities I received direct said sum to be made up one hundred guineas and whereas I have likewise left by my said will the sum of five guineas to Matthew Cook I direct the said sum to be made up fifty pounds and desire this to be looked upon as a codicil to my said will witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand the day and year above written – Frances King –

 

Probate 26/1/1786

This will was proved at London with a codicil the twenty sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six before the Worshipful William Scott Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of the Reverend Richard Bullock Doctor of Divinity the sole executor named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the deceased having been first sworn duly to administer
