In the name of God Amen; this eighth day of October A.D. one thousand six hundred ninety-four and in the sixth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord and Lady William and Mary king and queen of England etc.; I MARY KENTON of the parish of St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey in the County of Surrey, widow, being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to say; first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping by and through the death and merits of Jesus Christ my only Lord and saviour to have full and free remission of all my sins and to inherit eternal life; my body I commit to the Earth and do desire it may be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named; and whereas I am left full and sole executrix of the last will and Testament of my late husband ALEXANDER KENTON deceased and as touching such worldly estate as I empowered by virtue thereof to dispose of I give devise and bequeath thereof as follows viz. Imprimis; I give and bequeath unto my son ALEXANDER KENTON all my plate that I shall leave at the time of my decease for his own proper and peculiar use. Item; I give devise and bequeath all the rest and residue and remainder of my goods chattels ready money debts dues rights and credits whatsoever and wheresoever (after my funeral charges shall be there out first paid and discharged) unto and amongst my three children Alexander, MARY and SUSAN Kenton to be divided betwixt them equally share and share alike; and I do hereby make ordain and appoint my said daughter Mary Kenton full and sole executrix of this my last will and Testament not doubting of her faithful performance thereof according to my mind and will herein before declared; and lastly I do hereby declare this only to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Mary Kenton testatrix have hereunto put my hand and seal; dated the day and year first above written – Mary Kenton – signed sealed published declared and delivered by the said Mary Kenton the testatrix as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us’ Jo. Braddyll; Ann Braddyll, Wm. Murveli
