In the name of God, Amen, I John MUNCK of Childoakford in the County of Dorset, Clothier, being of good memory though imperfect health, this twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and seventy, do make this my last will and testament (viz.) Imprimis, I give unto God my soul, hoping to be saved through the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour, and my body to the earth to be interred in the church of Childoakford.  ITEM; I give unto my daughter Dorothy, wife to Thomas CRADOCKE of Blandford, Mercer, twenty pounds.  ITEM; I give to my daughter Elizabeth MUNCK and to her heirs forever that parcel of land or tenement which I bought of Charles Walters deceased situated in Charleston Marshall in the County aforesaid, together with the cottages belonging unto the same, and also I give untomy daughter Elizabeth and her heirs forever all those three closets of land called Northfield, Chawcroft and Barrock containing nine acres more or less which I bought of Andrew Moore and is situated in Childoakford aforesaid, and I likewise give unto her two hundred pounds in money.  ITEM; I give unto my daughter Hannah MUNCK and to her heirs forever the land and inheritance of that tenement which I bought of Mr Robert Burbidge (excepting the use of the house and homestead thereof to the use of my executrix during her life), also I give unto my said daughter Hannah and to her heirs forever the land of one close called Culverland which I bought of my brother William MUNCK, the land of two acres in the field the land of half an acre in Neatmead which I bought of Robert Scott, the land of the three beasts lease in the home commons which I bought of William Payne, all which parcels are situated in Childoakford aforesaid, together with the dwelling house, barn, stable, outhouses, gardens, orchard, and the appurtenances which I bought in fee simple of Mr Nicholas, Mr Fisher, Mr Rives and Mr Knavine I also give unto her my said daughter Hannah and to her heirs forever; I also give unto my daughter Hannah one lease of one and twenty years in the annuity which Dorothy my now wife holds during her life which lease is to commence immediately after her death and so to be complete and ended, and I give unto my said daughter Hannah two hundred pounds in money.  ITEM; I give unto my daughter Jane MUNCK and her heirs forever that parcel of land which is called by the name of Morgan’s Tenement and the land of the tenement in the possession of Christmas Boyle and John Mercer, and also Hooke’s Tenement in fee simple situate in Charlton Marshall aforesaid, I say to her and to her heirs forever, as also I give unto Jane my said daughter and her heirs forever one close called Lynch which I bought of my brother William Munck situated in Childoakford aforesaid, also I give unto my daughter Jane two hundred pounds in money, and I do hereby give my friends in trust and overseers hereafter named or any of two of them full power to sell any tenement cottage lease or piece of land which shall be judged by the major part of them to be necessary and behoof full for advancing the portion of the therein concerned daughter, also it is my will that if any estate above mentioned in lands of chattels should prove defective in title or otherwise, that the loss thereof shall be borne equally by my daughters according to the discretion of my friends in trust, also if any suits of Law troubles or charge shall arise upon any of the lands, stock, chattels or goods for vindicating the rights of each therein concerned daughter it is my will that my friends in trust shall be allowed and paid for such damage and disbursements by them so made out of the public stock or portions equally, and it is my request to my friends in trust hereafter named to take into their hands the two hundred pounds apiece which I have above given to my daughters Elizabeth, Hannah and Jane within twelve months after my decease, and to secure the same for their safety until they marry or be of a capacity to discharge the friends in trust.  ITEM; I give unto my cousin John MUNCK five pounds.  ITEM; I give unto my cousin Richard HARBEN’s two children twenty shillings apiece. I give to my cousin Anne wife to Richard ROGERS three pounds. I give to my cousin Elizabeth FREEMAN’s four children twenty shillings apiece. I give unto my wife’s sister Christian three pounds.  I give unto my wife’s sister Mary’s child twenty shillings.  I give unto my two servants that shall live with me at my decease twenty shillings apiece. I give to Rich: Payne Senior and to John Payne his son ten shillings apiece.  I give the younger children of my cousin George Drinkwater deceased ten shillings apiece.  I give to the poor of Childoakford twenty shillings to be disposed of according to the discretion of my executrix. All the smaller legacies to be paid within six months after my decease. All the legacies herein mentioned to be paid with current money of England by my executrix hereafter named.  All my goods and chattels movable and immovable together with my leasehold estate not herein before given I give and bequeath unto Dorothy my loving wife whom I make sole executrix of this my last will and testament.  Also I give unto Dorothy my wife all the benefits, profits and rents of all my estates and lands above mentioned for the space of two years beginning the next quarter day after my decease allowing unto my three daughters Elizabeth, Hannah and Jane a sufficient maintenance during that time, and I do hereby nominate and desire my trusty loving friends Thomas Cradocke above said, Matthew Compton as also my brother in law Thomas FREEMAN and likewise William Freeman Junior, all three of the parish of Childoakford aforesaid, I say I do appoint these four to be friends in trust and overseers of this my last will and testament, and for their pains I give unto they four ten shillings apiece as a small remembrance of my love. My hope is in the tender mercies of God. Witness my hand and seal the day and year above written, I also forgive my cousin John Munck aforesaid the ten pounds he owes me – John Munck – sealed signed and published in the presence of Richard Histocke, the mark of Joane Riddiott, Tho: Freeman, Matthew Compton
