In the name of God Amen. I Sir THOMAS HORDE of Cote within the parish of Bampton in the County of Oxon Knight being in perfect sense and memory blessed be God, but considering with myself the certainties of death and the uncertain time thereof, do for the better settling of my estate, make my last will and testament as follows: First I bequeath my soul into the hands of God my Creator hoping and assuredly believing through the only merits of my dear Saviour Christ Jesus and by his bitter death and passion for me to be saved at the last day and to be made partaker of his joyful resurrection.  And my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried within the chancel of the parish church of Bampton as near the body of my first wife as may be; and as touching the temporal estate both in lands and goods wherewith it has pleased God of his great goodness to bless me, I dispose thereof as follows, that is to say:  I devise and give all that my manor of Aston Buges with the appurtenances in the County of Oxon and all other my manors lands tenements and hereditaments whereof I am seized in free simple [sang] and other then my rent charge of eighteen pounds a year issuing out of the manor and lands at Hilsborough in the County of Warwick and all other my lands in the said County of Warwick unto my son JOHN HORD and to his heirs males of his body lawfully begotten and to be begotten; and for want of such issue then I devise and give my said manor of Aston lands and premises (except before excepted) unto my son WILLIAM HORD and to the heirs males of his body lawfully begotten and to be begotten; and for want of such issue then I desire and give my said manor lands and premises (except as before excepted) unto my son HASTINGS HORD and to the heirs males of his body lawfully begotten and to be begotten and for want of such issue then to the right heirs of [  ] for ever; and as touching my said yearly rent charge of eighteen pounds a year issuing out of the Manor of Hilsborough and the lands in Hilsborough aforesaid and all of my lands and hereditament in the said County of Warwick I do hereby devise and give the same unto my said son Hastings Hord and to his heirs for ever.  ITEM; I do hereby give and bequeath unto my said son Hastings Hord the sum of four hundred pounds of lawful money to be paid unto him at his full age of one and twenty years and I make and ordain my dear and loving wife Dame ANN HORD my sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 21st day of June in the year of our Lord 1658 by me – Tho: Hord – signed sealed and published in the presence of George Hastings, Joseph Hill, Nic Massinger
