In the name of God Amen; the first day of September in the year of our Lord God according to the computation of the Church of England one thousand six hundred forty and nine; I ROBERT ROUS of the Parish of Saint Gyles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex, Gentleman being in perfect health mind and memory, praised be God, knowing the certainty of death and the uncertain time thereof and, being by the permission of Almighty God to travel a long journey, do make my last will and testament in manner and form following: first, I bequeath my soul into the hands of God that gave it me assuredly hoping of the pardon and forgiveness of my sins through the merits of my blessed saviour Jesus Christ; and for that little worldly estate wherewith God has been pleased to entrust me I do dispose of as follows:  First I give and bequeath unto my beloved father ROBERT ROUS twenty shillings current English money; I give and bequeath also unto my brother RICHARD ROUS twelve pence and to every of his children twelve pence apiece.  ITEM; I give and bequeath unto MARGARETT late the widow of my brother HUMPHRY ROUS twelve pence and to her daughter that she had by my brother Humphry Rous forty shillings; lastly delivered (and the word twelve pence interlined) before then sealing delivery and publishing hereof to be his last will and testament in the presence of Robert Heron, Wa: Renwick, J. Shaw
