March the eleventh 1653

In the name of God Amen; I WALTER RIDOUT of Northwootton in the County of Dorset, yeoman, being sick and weak of body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God do make my last will and testament in manner and form following: vizt. First I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it was taken.  ITEM; I give unto MARY RIDOUTT the daughter of my brother THOMAS RIDOUT of Sherbourne four pounds.  ITEM; I give unto EDITH RIDOUT the daughter of my brother WILLIAM RIDOUT of Sherbourne four pounds.  ITEM; I give unto JULIAN MARCH the daughter of my brother in law JOHN MARCH of Horssington four pounds.  ITEM; I give unto KATHERINE RIDOUT the daughter of WILLIAM RIDOUT my kinsman of Sherbourne four pounds.  ITEM; I give unto MARY RIDOUT the daughter of my brother AMBROSE RIDOUT of Bradford four pounds.  ITEM: I give unto EDITH RIDOUT the daughter of RICHARD my brother of Alweston four pounds.  ITEM; I give unto William Toogood the son of William Toogood of Sherbourne three pounds.  ITEM; I give unto Richard Bidlecome of Sturton Caundle two pounds.  ITEM; I give unto Elizabeth Rawlings the daughter of George Rawlings of Northwooton three pounds.  ITEM; I give unto THOMAS RIDOUT the son of my brother Ambrose Ridout of Bradford three pounds.  ITEM; I give unto THOMAS CHAPMAN, ANNE CHAPMAN, JOANE CHAPMAN, SARAH CHAPMAN AND JULIAN CHAPMAN the son and daughters of JOHN CHAPMAN of Northwotton each of them twenty shillings apiece.  ITEM; I give unto THOMAS RIDOUT the son of RICHARD RIDOUT of Northwootton that part of wood which is between my brother and I at Lillington.  ITEM; I give unto WILLIAM MARCH the son of John March of Horssington ten pounds.  ITEM; I give unto the same William March my best coat and my best suit of apparel.  ITEM; I give unto my parish church ten shillings.  ITEM; I give unto the poor of my parish ten shillings.  All the rest of my goods and chattels, moveable and unmoveable not given nor bequeathed I give unto ALICE RIDOUT my wife whom I do ordain and make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament and do utterly revoke all other will or wills by me formerly made and this only to be stand all which legacies are to be paid by my executrix at or before the expiration of fifteen months next after my decease and I do desire my brother in law WALTER TILLY of Orrford and my brother in law John Chapman of Northwootton to be overseers of this my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand – Walter Ridout – witness hereunto John Coombe, John Ridout
